Default Planning Ahead - What are you using next deer season?

As I am anticipating carrying a new rifle into the woods next deer season I thought I'd throw out this question to everyone:

What will you be carrying for a rifle next deer season?

I'm planning on using a Thompson Contender with the rifle stock added in 45-70 Government. Time to return to my roots and the grand ole 45-70, albeit a new platform to fire it from.

What about you?

Rev. Jeff

I have no plans on a new rifle purchase at this time. Everything is subject to change.
I plan to carry the Springfield 1903 sporter in the field this year at least a few times. I bought it cheap, the plan was to make it (just the receiver) into a replica 1903A4 sniper rifle with original stock, scope and barrel. The receiver was made in 1920. To begin the transformation: I went to a machinist and had a Leupold one piece base installed. I didn't like the Weaver 2 piece bases.

For fun I installed a Leupold VXII 2-7x32 and used the same loads I shoot in my 1903/1903A3/1917/M1 Garand and sporterized Mauser in 30-06. The rifle shoots just over a one inch group at 100 yards. The rifle shoots too good to screw with and it looks nice. It needs to go hunting.
Sorry, I only have old pictures- with the Weaver bases installed.
