Default bear baiting

I've put my bait sites out in what I would consider good bear area, but only one has been hit. How is everyone else doing? How long should I wait before I move the bait to a new area? The bait that was hit has not been hit again in two days-is that normal? I'm using donuts, pie filling, and grease. Anyone with any thoughts?

certainly is normal, especially if you have just put them out. Last year my bait was getting hit an average of every two days. Thanks to a game cam, I got pictures of bear just walking by. one bear went by 3 times in one night without touching anything. There was alot of food last year and I suspect the same is true this year with all the good growing weather. The guides on here will be able to tell you more though. They are probably have not chimed on yet due to the fact they are all pretty busy with several baits at this time. Don't give up, I had a bait sit for almost two weeks one year before it started getting smashed. Are you spreading grease around the area also? I usually put 5 gallons right around the bait container to let them get it on their pads and track it all over creation. I also spray the surrounding trees trees about 8 feet up to let the smell carry. You can also try a little meat mixed in their. I had a friend show me that one year and it was the only thing getting eaten. they never touched the pastries, just the meat. I like to give them both now and let them choose. It is easy to get meat, find a butcher and just ask him. they are glad to give the scraps to hunters, means they do not have to dispose of it. I bag it up and put it in the freezer and use as needed. That is about the extent of my knowledge. their are guys on here with much more and I am sure they will chime in sometime. Good luck and God Bless.

Try a bacon burn or honey burn to tell the bears you are there. If that don't get it done... move 'em

Thanks for all the suggestions. I tried a honey burn as well as laying a scent trail with Bearscents bacon spray. They have all been hit multiple times now. One site is being hit on a regular basis, but the other three are about every other day or two.
