Those are some real nice deer. 4 seasons in Maine and a buck each year is thats great. Where abouts in Maine did you get them? I guess I'm lost as to where this post is going? I don't see how these last few posts and cbbase30 posts connect? Am I missing something?

Yea, I think we got a bit off topic, but what the hell, why not. I shot most of those deer in the Norway area. The really big one I got in Starks in 2001 or 2002, I can't remember. I love hunting Maine so much. I really belive that the best deer hunter come form theis part of the country. we work harder to shoot the same deer that other part of the nation are blessed with an abundunce of.

I know we rarely take the cameras with us here in Maine (for deer). But to be honest, I kinda of cherish that time to myself and don't want to presure of a camera person to interfere with my hunting. Some times when you make your hobby a job, I think it is important to take some time to just do it for fun too.

Heaven is 4 inches of fresh snow, a gps, a compass, water, 2 candy bars, and a fresh track at 7 am.

Amen Brother! I grew up hunting in the Bangor area (which has a pretty good deer population), three years ago I told myself I was going to learn how to hunt the big woods. The result was fewer deer sightings, and an unfilled tag the first two years. The first year all I saw were does, except for the 189lb 9 point that my buddy shot. The second year I learned a lot. I was working a big track with my buddy and when I stopped looking at the track and started looking for the buck to get out of his bed I learned that they'll let you walk right by before moving. My buddy saw the deer and I still think he froze when it bolted right at him and stopped quartering to him. He says he was waiting for it to turn just a hair, but when he watched it jump 5 times broadside without firing I think he froze when he saw that monster! Finally dropped one this year, but even if I hadn't I'd still be hunting the big woods. I just enjoy being out there too much! You can't measure success by filling a tag evey year! Of course thats just me, and I don't fill one evey year.
