Hi Everyone;

As this is the place to introduce yourself, I thought I would do just that.

I live in the downeast part of Maine, I hunt both the expanded and regular archery seasons, as well as the firearms season for deer. I am new to predator and turkey hunting. I have been the sub-permittee on two moose hunts, one of which was successful. As you can see, I have not been very lucky with the wildlife lotteries. I have been selected once to go turkey hunting, and have never been picked to go moose hunting as the permittee.

Hope to learn more about the finer points of hunting particular species from the boards.

Just Check'n in !

New to this site. Born in Maine, relocated to NJ (shhhh) hunt Maine yearly, now trapping in the Great State, looking for land to move back. I have a need for a connection to purchase beaver meat to load my traps. I know it can't be sold legally but I can trade. I usually head up to Auburn then across on rt 4W to rt 27N. I can pick up when I'm heading that way this Winter. I can detour. Working the Flagstaff area . Thanks Everyone

Newbie Here

Hi gang,

Just signed up for the forum. I live part-time in the Hiram area and I am an avid whitetail hunter (bow and rifle) as well as been successfull at bear hunting. Love to (trout and salmon) fish, too (in my 16.6 Lund), and ATVing.

I'm 40-something and can't wait to get out in the woods this fall. Struck out last 2 seasons, as I did not have a doe tag and all that showed their faces during rifle season was does (Murphy's Law). Looking to redeem myself this season.

This forum seems to be full of some serious hunters and I look forward to spending time getting to know you all.

Welcome Point Man, I am getting anxious for deer season too. The weather has been real cool lately and it feels a lot closer to deer season than it really is.

You mentioned you have been bear hunting. Are you hunting this season?

No time (or money) this season for a guided bear hunt. Plan on doing some bowhunting then rifle season and black powder (if unsuccessful during rifle).

You're right, this cooler weather does make it feel like it's later in the Fall. This cool weather will be a reprieve for the bugs for the bear hunters!

I also noticed a huge reduction in house flies that we normally get in the last couple weeks of August. I haven't seen many annoying house flies at all this year. My fly swatter has been in the bottom drawer all year, no need to take it out. :wink:
