Ive been looking for some ranges where I could get some mid-long range shooting in. I go to school in Aroostook and home is down in Central Maine, so location isnt way to much of an issue. I know Capital City gun club is in Augusta but not sure how far out the targets are....heard I need a "sponsor" to get me into there too but I do not know anyone for that. So does anybody 1) Know if there are ANY 300yrd+ ranges. And 2) What is it like at the majority of ranges/clubs youve been too??? (Can I stay there for hours or is there a time limit?, mandatory meetings?, stuff like that...) Thanks guys

There is a group here we go out a few times in the summer in the blueberry fields to do the long shooting. We take out the 50's and other rifles. These places are great for this as they offer miles of open clear land. Last year we had a van and a bunch of other "targets" brought out to play. I do not know of any official clubs though.

No, no clubs.

I take some of my armor plates and frames out to different gravel pits or a mining operation and can set up 400 yards safely. Another place we shoot over a pond and have plates suspended between trees on chain. It is a nice little ATV ride to get to the other side to paint the plates. All of these are private property where I have permission to shoot.

The two gun ranges in northern Oxford and Franklin Counties are only 100 yards. (or 200 yards if I'm alone and set up my bench on the trap range)

I would love to set up along the Rangeley airport runway but that is verboden.
