That's what I'm hearing anyways. Is this true? Perhaps it is. I saw more bear this summer just driving around than I've seen in years.

Come on someone must have busted one by now. Talked with my brother and he has been taking his son out but so far nothing. Bait is getting hit but its at night. I hope in October when I'm up for the moose we may find a bear still out and about. My subpermitte is getiing a bear tag. I saw somewhere else on the site someone asked about beachnuts I'd be interested in hearing what kind of year it is too.

Moose- what is your zone?? The bear hunt in northern Maine seems to be not going so well, not sure if it is just because of the weather variations. It seems that they do not like coming out much in the rain and now with this heat- real roller coaster year. Luckily, we are still early in the season.. As far as Beech Nuts, I haven't even seen one this year! moosetowner

I hear ya moosetowner. I talked to some friends up there last night and they said like you the weather has not been the best. I hope it gets better for ya. I got pulled for zone 3 Bull Oct. I use to live in Washburn and still have family and friends in the area. All the time I lived up there never got drawn this is the 2nd time I've been drawn since I moved to NC.

I have heard from a couple of sources that part of the problem in getting bears to come to bait is an ample supply of berries - which would be a preferred diet. I would have thought blueberries and raspberries are gone by and now it is blackberries?
