Are there any blackpowder clubs around belfast to Stockton Spring? I cant seem to find any gun ranges let alone black powder. Anyone have a some acreage that would like to get one going? I can donate time and a few $$ here and there if interested. Or if someone knows of an existing range I would like to get something going with blackpowder if the intrest is out there.

Hi.
There is a dedicated black powder group in Stetson, Me. Penobscot Long Rifles. It is a trip from Belfast.
There is a range in the Bucksport area. Bucks Mills Rod and Gun Club is on the Buks Mills Rd. The range is located on the Gilpin Rd in Orland, just South of town.
A bit further down the road is the Blue Hill rifle range. They actually have Cowboy shoots a couple times a year. The Blue Hill club has a web site.

Black Powder

I started a search for a couple of pounds of FFg with no results. The guys at Old Town Trading Post said someone (I didn't make a note of the name) in Augusta carries it.

Do you know of anyone who still carries it. I have an FFL but don't want the trouble of dealing with the explosives license to deal with resale and quantity storage of black powder.

I know there used to be a place near augusta called "Hawk-n-Horn" or something like that. maby it was Chelsea. Heading over the bridge twards 295 just before you get to 295 a road off to the left got you there but its been years and i dont even know if he is still there. there is a sportsman club right in that same area maby they can help...thats all i remember like i said its been years since i have been out there.

I may have found the answer through the Maine Powder House but have not been down to see them in Peru, ME yet. They have an online order but I don't want 25 lbs. I need to call and see about picking up a 2-3 pounds, maybe 5 lbs on the extreme side. It's for personal use, I don't want to sell it. My FFL does not cover the sale of black powder, I think that requires an explosives license for the tracking...

If someone(s) locally also wanted FFg we could go "halfsies" but the only guys I know here shoot that pellet stuff through in-line rifles.
