I would just like to say congratulations to the Mobile oil corporation for making the highest profit margins in the history of their company this past quarter. I know times have been tough for them, and hopefully more Tax Breaks for the oil industry will help to keep their families fed.

Ah yes, they get a pat on the back for such a fine job.

Now don't get me wrong, I think businesses have the right to make money. I am a strong believer in supply and demand.

But holy shamoly batman. $3.12/gallon of gas

:boohoo:

I know steve is only being facetious in his congratulatory remarks toward Mobile. It burns my butt that I have to pay $3 plus for gas but Mobil isn't in business to subsidize my gas bill.

Maine Vu Optics shouldn't have to give back some of its profits because they made too much money.

And don't get caught up in the "We the people don't have any other choices"

Steve stopped by my house last month and when he was here he told me he would share his profits with me if I was nice to him...

Well, it's only right! And don't forget your tax money is at work in New Orleans where they are planning a big bash to celebrate the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

I find it hard to place any basic rules of economics onto the oil industry. The entire industry is a giant monopoly. We need to have a government who isn't in bed with the oil companies. Other countries are becoming independant of fossil fuels, but for some reason the U.S. can't seem to make any headway and I wonder why... we keep giving the OIL companies "tax breaks" to pursue alternative energy sources. I'm sure Mobil, Exxon, and the like are all right on top of that. Last year I wrote off over $10,000 in mileage because the gas prices had caused the DOT mileage rate to go to $0.50/mile. Its tough to get a business going when every dime of your profits goes towards paying your gas bill. AAARRGGGG!

I am afraid gas prices are going to continue to rise. Even if we found a new way to make cars run, as long as it is a monopoly we will see the same things happening.

The bottom line is nobody cares! And don't give me dribble about how you've cut back on your driving etc. because all the stats still show that Americans are driving just as much as ever. They get $3.00 plus per gallon because you and I keep right on buying it like it was pepsi cola. Yum Yum Yum

I have stopped drinking gasoline because of the rising prices that's for sure.

Personally my wife and I have not gone on trips we wanted to go on because of rising prices. But we are weird. :?
