I never have taken any game ilegally.
Well, there was that one time when I was ten. I shot a pheasant with a bow and arrow made out of sticks and fishing line, a week before the season opened.
The bird didn't go to waste, Mom put it in a crock pot.

Taking deer illegally is taking deer illegally but I wonder if they were planning on taking the deer with them to eat etc. and got scared off or were they just out for blood?

Not that poor people can't afford meat at thegrocery store, but if someone is low on cash and poaches, I wouldn't get too excited if they put the meat to use. The animals are there as a resource. But to poach just to kill something is inexcusable. Makes one wonder what kind of danger these people pose to their fellow man.

I don't have any problem whatsoever with taking game if you are poor and put the meat to use, that is what it is there for.
