On the Mossy Oak Forum there is a guy from NJ who was filming/tracking this monster buck. He has some real nice pictures of this buck from the trail camera and hunted hard but never got a shot off.
During the season he had to move from Jersey to N. Carolina and a week or two after he moved, he reads about this 12 year old girl who shoots this monster buck he had been after. He reccognized the buck from the pictures!
He was upset, not so much at the little girl, but more that someone else had tagged that deer and he didn't.
Here is the good part; Do you try to forget about it or stew over your lost fortune or do something that could help change our hunting future? Here is what I posted back to him since he reposted pics of the buck reminding us of the story.....
Did you ever present her with a framed picture of that great deer you both hunted? Talk about hunting relationships! I think it would be worth the effort, for you and her and you just never know how much good can come from it.
I know she's 12, but just think if you could call her up and chat with her during the off season to see if she is scouting, or during the season to see if she has seen another great buck like the other one in that picture.
Think what it could do for hunting over all....she could be a senator or congress woman some day and if she hunts, she won't be joining the "rank and file" when it comes to banning hunting!
What we all do NOW changes our futures past! Think about it........what if?
