This man from New York City went up to Patten to do some deer hunting last November. He got lost and roamed around the woods not knowing where he was or in what direction he should go. He remained lost and wandering for about 4 days when he finally ran into another hunter.
"Boy", he said. "Am I ever glad to see you. I'm from New York City and I've been lost in these damned woods for 4 day!"
"Don't get you hopes up fella!", said the other hunter. "I'm from Massachusets"

A true story.
A friend that I hunt with, actually he is our chief photographer, ran into a man from MA who was lost in the woods. He was in a total panic. Milt tried to calm him down but he was just too scared.
After some time, he thought he understood where the guy came into the woods from and tried to send him in that direction but wouldn't go. He wasn't going to let Milt out of his sight for nothing.
He ended up having to walk him out to his truck which was only about a half mile away.

We had a fuller up in Allagash get lost a few years back. He was staying in my father's sporting camp and usually my Dad woudl just throw a few hunters in the canoe and paddle acrossed the river (most of the time breaking ice to do so). Well all these guys had to do was climb the ridge and sit some place and wait for a deer. Well, this guy ended up lost. He stripped off burnt his money, his clothes, lost his gun, I mean right out of his mind. Stupid part is.. you go up a ridge, you should know enough to go down hill and you'll find your way somewhere. All this fuller had to do was go down hill.. he woudl have came out to the river bank and could have walked either way or stood right where he was and someone woudl have seen him. The worse part is, this guy lived about an hour from Allagash. (Madawaska) Amazing how fast people are to panic and forget all common sense. Moosetowner
