Here are my trusty Maine Hunting Shoes (LL Bean) and my T/C Encore Katahdin in 450 Marlin!! I am a big fan of the Maine Vue scopes, and plan on putting them on all my rifles/shotguns. Anyway, I hope you like the pics!!

And here are some of my favorite bows!!

Cheers all,

Nothin' like a pair of old LL Bean boots. My father tells a good story about a man he goes to hunting camp with who after 40 years traded in his LL Bean boots and he actually got a new free pair. LL Bean was so shocked to see such an old pair of boots they kept them behind the counter.

Well after a couple of days the man went missing at hunting camp only to find out he got in his vehicle and drove all the way back to LL Beans to get his old pair back. He said nothing was more comfortable than them boots.

I am sure I botched the story but I'll have my dad tell you what he remembers. ;)
Nah.. sounds about right. Love them boots..... but not as much as my swampers. Got converted, Baffin boots with felt liners - all rubber, and waterproof beyond waterproofers. Light and hard wearing, look like new five years later, some scuffs but barely there. Wear 'em all day and walk 'till your legs say to go home. Like wearing slippers with socks on.

Have you shot anything with that Katahdin Killer yet?
Hey guys, thanks for the responses. I love those boots, and please don't mind the buck blood on the right one, LOL.
Yep, I harvested about a dozen deer with that Katahdin Carbine using the 50-cal ML barrel. Have not had a chance to shoot the big bore yet, as we can't hunt with rifles for deer here NJ. I bought it specifically for going to Maine and doing a Deer/Bear hunt next fall :)

That cannon will knock down a Maine black bear for sure. I can see where your heart really is. Come often and for long periods of time.
A bear hunt........hmmmmmmm.. this fall............ I know just the fella...... if your looking.

Nice to see all of the Oneidas. I used to shoot IBO pro-class with a pair of Aero-force X80's. Still have them, but I switched to longbow a long time ago. Can't beat those boots or a big bullet, either.
canerod, if you shot oniedas in the IBO pro class no wonder you switched to longbow. LOL. how many worlds did you shoot? they were some awesome times would love to get back to it . strings
Thanks guys!! After years of successfull deer hunting here in NJ, it's time to broaden my horizons a bit. I am actually looking to move to Maine hopefully so any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
----Brian
Are you looking to buy a place or would you like to build your own? Where would you be looking to live up here?
I thought you HAD to shoot with a hi cap semi auto in NJ so once you downed your deer, you could hold the rest of the hunters at bay while you get to it for tagging! There were a couple few NJ guys up at the camp we go to in Jackman who were a riot. Talking about having to shoot cover fire for a friend so they could get to their deer before someone else did! Goofballs for sure.

Those Katahdin Carbines are nice. I love my 18" 1895GS .45-70 which is similar but in a lever action, in terms of ballistics. I want to get a TC Encore or Contender at some point. Nice guns.

Oh yeh, I have seen those Maine Vue scopes at the Concord, NH gun show at a friend's table. They look nice and seem to be great, but how is the quality and do they stand up to the recoil of a big bore and the fogging while hunting in northern Maine? I am just curious and am not in any way trying to diminish their sales, I am just curious as I may invest in a couple at some point and want to know if they are worth it.

Thanks!

Hello Sir,
I am in the beginning stages of transferring to Maine. To start, I think I would like to just rent a place for now, but eventually I am looking to buy a few hundered acres and build a simple log home. Nothing fancy at all. I would like to invest more money in the land rather than the home. I can always expand down the road!!
Thanks!!

I shot the Worlds in '95 and '96. Love my Eagles, especially for shooting indoor 3-D. Tune down the brace height and it'd sound like a .22 Mag going off. Really shook up the shooters next to ya. I switched to longbow when I got burnt out on the gadgets and having to go to all the shoots. Add in a full-time job and you have no time off. After pretty much missing 2 fishing seasons, I figured it wasn't worth it.
Just keeping it real.........
