Oil Company Generousity????

I would like to see the blood sucking, filthy rich oil companies in this country who continue to suck every penny out of us through lying, cheating and stealing, make a contribution to the Katrina hurricane disaster relief.
How about freezing oil prices for a few months so people all over the US will feel more able to give to the effort.
They won't! Never do! Their day will come.

I certainly understand basic capitalism and the concept of supply and demand but what I don't understand is why time and time again, the oil companies never step up to the plate to assist anyone in time of need.
Oil companies can charge any amount they want for a gallon of gasoline. That isn't my point. My point is what are they going to do to help.
There are basically two kinds of people that are suffering from this disaster - those who have no means by which to rebuild and those that have money and can rebuild.
Oil companies have seen the largest profits ever and I don't care but while others have done what they can to help, oil companies continue keeping on.
Ithaca - I wasn't offended and I wondered when I posted if you would think I might be.
I agree what you say, it is just frustrating and of course that gets my dander up.
For years I have said that as much as it would hurt a lot of people, that the price of gas should go to 6 or 7 bucks a gallon and then perhaps, enough people would be affected so then we might begin to make some changes.
