I was reading a news story the other day about how in Washington, game officials shot and killed a mountain lion there because it had caught and killed someone's cat.

The story went on and on about this poor woman's GD cat and oh my God it was the saddest thing one could imagine. My first reaction was - and they murder mountain lions for this?

Of course one of my favorite books is, "101 Things to do With a Dead Cat"

Anyway, as I was engulfed in how ludicrous this entire story was, at the end of the article was one of those "Oh by the ways". You know what I mean. This was great. I nearly peed my pants. It went something like this.

.....the mountain lion was found in the neighbors tree eating the cat (they actually used the cat's name at this point of the story, that's how bad they got) and then it said, (This was the "oh by the way part".

"The same mountain lion had attacked a man and bitten him on the leg only last week."

Would they have killed the frickin cougar if it had killed the man or only poor little fluffy? Geez!

Sore subject for me Tom.

It's like the guy who shot the dog that was biting him, and when it was all said and done, the guy who got bit had to pay to patch up the damn dog! Had he killed the dog everything would have been OK.

Go figure!

Well, I can certainly understand why someone would be upset that their cat got swallowed up by a dang ole cougar, yada, yada, yada. But in a passing note, A guy got attacked and bit" and he gets second billing?

It reminded me of a story here in the Bay Area about breaking news. A big accident on the Howard Frankland Bridge. An SUV hit a cement embuttment and a dog was thrown from the open passengerside window. Divers and rescuers were out searching everywhere looking for the dog.

This interrupted regular programming! They were there for maybe 5 mins talking about the tragedy of this dog and rescuers had given up hope.

Finally the reporter in the studio asked the on the scene woman reporter about the condition of the driver. It was so sureal! She says, in so many words as best I can recall, "Yes, the driver. The report we got on the driver from the State Police, is the drivers dead!"

Totally insane.
