I learned some new info. Over 2,000 sites were hit today. A lot of them are still down.

Jack,

I'm not sure I know the answer exactly but I think it is safe to say that the hackers were able to get into this one server, affecting about 2,000 sites. I do not believe is was directed at Maine Hunting Today or U.S. Hunting Today BUT there is a distinct possibility.

I would sooner think that they were just able to randomly locate a server that they were able to get into.

I want to tell you though, I was some upset last night. Didn't sleep all night and I even had nightmares.

Things look to be in pretty good shape this morning though.

The attack was in general. This was not the only server. There were several servers effected causing over 2,000 sites to be hacked. It was a minor attack which didn't mess with database issues but overwrote all the index pages and messing with the permissions so that nothing could be written over.

It was sort of a long process to restore all the sites.

Hey Jack,

Yea all the forums on this server are doing that. The host has disabled a certain function momentarily while other sites get back up. It should be fixed shortly when he enables the emailer.

Just so everybody knows we are running back at 100%. Though it took all weekend it really wasn't that serious of a hack, just overwrote some files. Good thing we back up our files.
