Rifle hunt for turkey

Discussion in 'Maine Turkey Hunting' started by jacksonsmith, Feb 25, 2015.

  1. Can a .22 be used to hunt turkey? would I be better off with a bow? I will not use a shot gun for personal reasons.

    Thanks in advance

  2. What about muzzleloaders? That's all I have hunted with for many years.
  3. No muzzleloader. Shotguns and now. I'm southern Maine and wardens frown upon bending of rules. Law book clearly states bow or shotgun only.
  4. I have a flintlock smoothbore 20ga that shoots shot very well. That's okay?
  5. Not 100% on this, but I think it is classified by the projectile. Might want to look into it. You may have found a loop hole.
  6. Smoothbore muzzleloaders were the only shotguns prior to the invention of self-contained shells that could be loaded from the breech. I don't know, but I don't see a problem.
