I was thinking of taking my 35 whelen out to the range today, that is the rifle I'll be using for my bear hunt at the end of Aug.
Do you think it's too hot to shoot, if I'm checking my gun for zero?
Or. Do you think the coditions at the range will closely match the conditions during my hunt?

I'm sure you can get the zero pretty close, but I would fine tune in temps more like what you're going to experience during your hunt. I like to shoot in the summer just to remain comfortable with my gun and practice shooting, but as we all know once that barrel heats up and expands your groups can get pretty big.

Just buy the doughnut looking thing that slips onto your barrel, just in front of the stock! It dampens most, if not all the vibration/osolation out of the barrel. With the improvment in accuracy, temps should not be a factor on one or two shots.
It is very tough to cool barrel after it's been shot several times though.

I am also a south paw but I can only wink with one eye and that forces me to shoot right...

It is instinct now but it was a little tough at first to switch. Especially being a youngster. LJ how's your shoulder doing?

I am right handed, but left eye dominant. So I can appreciate the hell left handed people go through in this right handed world. What a pain in the a$$ to find left handed guns, luckily Savage arms makes a lot of them.

I shoot left handed, but all my guns are are rightys. A funny thing is, that I shoot right-handed with handguns and archery. :confused3:
