I’m coming in September for a bear hunt. Trying to figure out the rules on firearms. I’m planning on bring my bow and a gun. Why is the regs on a AR platform firearm for bear hunting?

Semi auto rifles (includes AR) are allowed: limited to 5 round magazine capacity.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend a 223 cartridge for Black Bear. You didn't mention 223, I'm just saying.
