I've used a Rem model 7 7mm08 for years with great success. My Win. model 94 30-30 is a blast to shoot with open sights....very accurate!

I recently picked up a Rem model 7600 carbine. I've always liked the guns with short barrels.

What are you guys shootin?

I have a Model 94 .30-30 too...

Light weight and easy to bring with you. It was manufactured in 1900 so I may have to retire it after I shoot a bear with it... :D

I usually hunt with a flintlock .50, both BP and rifle seasons, but my main deer rifle is a Winchester 70 SS, chambered in .300 WBY Mag. More than is needed, but it'll print 3 shots under .75" @ 100yds and it's hunting, not catch and release

Marlin also makes a nice 30-30 called the spikehorn. I tried getting one for weeks and no one could get me one. Now I'm broke so I couldn't get one if I wanted to!!

For those of you that have a T/C muzzleloader, T/C will work on your trigger for free if it is too heavy. I have a White Mtn carbine flintlock with a single trigger that was extremely heavy. I shot it that way since I bought it in 91. They just sent it back too me....WOW! The trigger is now around 3 pds and smooth as butter!

When I am hunting in a stand, I use a howa 1500 in .300 win mag. I shoot flat and packs a hell of a punch when it gets there.

On the track or still hunting, I use a rem. 7400 in 30-06. Doesn't everybody?

For bear I like a .50 cal MDM blackpoweder or a bow.

I watched a guy group 5 shots with a Browning .300 winchester magnum at 700 yards, all within the black bulls. I was impressed. I thought it would also make a good moose hunting weapon.

We can't shoot semi-rifles in PA, so that's why I have the 7600 carbine pump. I just sold a Rem M700 BDL SS 300 win mag because the gun was just a little heavy and long. It was also synthetic which sounded like a moose antler when you brushed against a branch!

I have a number of hunting rifles, but over the last 5 years, my peep sighted Marlin 45-70 has seen the most use. I have a new 35 Whelen which I'm going to scope that will probably see plenty of hunting time this season.

The 700 yards wasn't just a fluke. The guy was a sniper in the military.

To dream! I wish I could do that.
